"You don't write to break peoples hearts... You write from the heart, and that's what breaks peoples hearts." - Diego Luna.
A show / series that perfectly crafted around these words spoken by the the Actor for the Main Character (Diego Luna) as, Cassian (Kassa) Andor.
Writer Tony Gilroy did an amazing job spending a few years of his time on this amazing project, writing a story that doesn't quite separate GOOD vs EVIL. He wrote a story that spends its time within the Grey area, building layers upon layers on both sides, the Rebellion and Empire.
The Characters are well crafted, to the point that i would call them BELIEVABLE and REAL people. Their lines almost have double meanings all the time, and everyone has a character ark, even the smallest of the people in this series.
The sets felt so real because they didn't use digital backgrounds like other major films, they built actual sets for these actors to play around in, like how older films used to do it.
And i can't say how much Nicholas Britell didn't miss any shots with his soundtrack for this Series. The music is so beautiful and different because it uses those classic instruments like Violin, brass instruments, percussion, etc. Many favorite tracks he created was Past/Present suite, My Name Is Kino Loy, Eulogy, Rebellion Suite, and etc. He uses some synthwave sounds too in order to keep it within the Star Wars tone. Especially the Tracks like NIAMOS! Both the Morlana and the Galaxy mix versions, which was heavily built in synth wave with that warehouse effect.
So whats with this masterpiece being more for the time era of the 1970's? Its a slow paced series, slowly building to the final 12'th episode which does pay off after all of this waiting. Its an adult series, meant to allow the audience to spend their time with these characters so the action is more meaningful when it kicks in. They kept character designs that were so detail oriented that people even rock out that 70's sideburns look just like how characters back in the original trilogy did.
I. Love. Andor. With the whole team that made ANDOR possible... I can't wait for season 2, we all can't wait, i know i speak for almost everyone there. Keep writing from the heart Tony Gilroy, because this series broke mine, in a good way.
