I’m not particularly sure if this is a new, inexperienced writer, but nonetheless, the novel was egregious horrendous and painful to read.
For one, the characters are unnecessarily idiotic. These vampires, mind you some of them are nearly eight hundred years old, act very immature and too young for their age , which makes it very eye-rolling because you’d assume these ancient creatures would have a shred of experience. Not even focusing the lens on the age of the characters, the dialogue and characters themselves are an absolute prime example of someone who doesn’t understand how to develop a readable, efficacious plot. A majority of the characters are not needed and insufferable, I was already 182 pages in and nearly nothing had happened. Even being heedful of the pinch of things that did occur, non of it contained a single shred of logical sense. An intelligent man who works as a psychologist becomes this understanding of a new species of once-believed mythical creatures that fast? This man gets kidnapped, bitten, and tied to a stranger’s bed and barely questions it? In fact, he doesn’t even worry about it at all, he’s sexually aroused?? I get that it’s supposed to be a romance, but that is not how you set the scene for two characters loving each other, especially a paranormal romantic relationship at that. I’m aware that this novel was written out of order, but it does not make it any less excruciating to read. Nearly nothing develops throughout even the first third of the entire book and the scenes drag on and ON. I mean, come on, just admit you don’t have a real plot idea.
Also, you are in desperate need of a thesaurus, the vocabulary utilized here is agonizingly bland and boring.
