This series appears to be a novice youtuber's idea what a dramatic TV show is supposed to be, including tense music queues when someone enters a dark room, unexplained drywall hiding a doorway... and a bunch of disjointed, meandering plot nonsense that is so unmemorable, after an hour of watching you won't be able to actually give more than a 3 sentence breakdown of what you just watched. Seems the writer took a 15 minute short and tried cashing in on Netflix series money. Nothing original or interesting here, typical "evil cult" entry level writing exercises. It's not even "so bad, it's good" level dross, it's a bad idea professionally filmed, so if you are the type of person who says "well at least the cinematography was good", then turn off the volume and let it play in the background while you do something else. Watch the far superior "From" instead.

Meandering story line with no payoff. Fell asleep twice watching. Takes place in the arctic but apparently the filmmakers have no idea how ice and cold works. Want to walk across the frozen arctic? Oh no, the ice suddenly melts and they nearly drown, even though it's a land mass. Want to send an important message to a spacecraft? Oh no, just as you were about to tell them what's happening, their communication dish breaks off. Not the worst film I've ever seen, but close.

Paramount appears to be testing new writers on the Trek franchise. Incoherent events disconnected from any plot fill each episode. Inconsistent science, events from one episode are completely discarded or contradicted in the next episode. It is as though the writing staff are not allowed to view the show or speak to other writers about their own series. When not spouting gibberish or meaningless jargon, characters have extremely low intelligence. Starfleet is supposed to be made up of the best and brightest, but either these characters are deliberately being written as stupid, or the writers don't have what it takes to write clear, intelligent scripts. For instance: Now that Picard is an "android", I'm unclear why they would give him oxygen when he is injured, but perhaps that episode's writer wasn't informed of this major change to the character. Most if not all of the main characters are alcoholics, which is confusing and not very "starfleet". Any legitimate criticisms of the show's poor dialog or plotline failures is written off by Paramount as "toxic fandom", even if you are not a fan of science fiction. These stories are not morality plays, they are a collection of terrible ideas by the fourteen or fifteen of the show's "producers" who want what they want. Watching this series will probably make you less intelligent. I'd advise avoiding any of the new Kurtzman mess, and rewatch the excellent tales within DS9 for instance. You'll be better for it.

The art of storytelling is removed from this series of dull events which fail to have plot, or resolution of any sort. It's a scifi-ish set of visual effects in which I'm guessing were completed before any writers were hired. I'm amazed this was produced, as it has almost no entertainment value.

I had a look at the reviews, and realized that people were leaving negative comments about JRR Tolkien's source material (the books), because they think the Jackson movies are the 'true source'. Most have clearly not read the books, or don't like the looks of certain actors. You can discount any one star ratings for what they are, pathetic whining. That being said, I had no interest in watching this, mostly due to Peter Jackson's dragged out "The Hobbit", and Liv Tyler's addition to the trilogy. What caught my interest was seeing a few clips of Benjen Stark (Game of Thrones) actor Joseph Mawle. He is fantastic. Thus interested, I watched the first 5 episodes which is entirely world building. By episode 6 I was captivated. This show is amazing. It looks good, the dialog could be a bit better in spots, but overall, it is Game Of Thrones level entertainment. Several mysteries present themselves in episode 2 and 3, which left me contemplating my LOTR lore for answers. I'm hooked. JRR Tolkien would be proud.

Boring, ridiculous plot-line, nothing "historical" about it.

If you were hoping this story was the first in a series of adventures of R. Daneel, and have been waiting for a future spin-off series with Elijah, well... I've bad news. They 'retooled' the show to be a political drama. Apparently Daneel is "in" the show as a female robot, but without any of the Asimov LAWS OF ROBOTICS. Yes, that is correct, they left out the two most interesting things in Asimov's writings. The show looks good, but it's about as interesting as the Game Of Thrones final season which seems to be what they were looking to make when they stumbled upon the Asimov IP. A wonderful opportunity to recreate the work of one of the best sci-fi writers of our time, instead turned into boring, visually interesting, easily forgotten television.

Amazing job by Pablo and the other actors. At first I was concerned that Paramount would have Alex Kurtzman destroy another franchise like he did to Star Trek, but it seems this show has kept Kurtzman away from it and instead hired a competent writing staff who know how to craft a smart, intriguing story line. It's Paramount's only true science fiction program at the moment and it's superb.

Unfunny, terribly written, pointless. CBS is going to go broke if it keeps dumping bad programming like this into it's streaming service. Perhaps this could have been a 6 minute YouTube fan animation and had a few thousand views.
