Pike is too glib and too quick making complicated command decisions and giving profound speeches without preparation. (Writer’s fault, not Mount’s). He also must have an on-board hair dresser to maintain his bouffant hair do. Nothing against women in the cast but when they outnumber the men two or three to one especially on the bridge it’s too much. The doctor’s accent makes him hard to understand. One of the women tends to mumble. In the 9th episode they lost their only “peculiar”, Hemmer. All previous series had at least one “peculiar”. And too much touchy-freely emotions development among the characters. Unless they do something about the cast and writing I’m not looking forward to another season.
Reading previous reviews I found a plethora of gushers almost as bad as Will Wheaton’s “Ready Room” interviews where he endlessly squeaks and gushes. As Shatner once told a Treky convention “it’s only a TV show. Get a life!”.
