We watched it because we live nearby and love the period. There are times when it reminds me of Brighton Rock, The 39 Steps and other films of the period, and I think it successfully communicates the sense of isolation security operatives would have experienced at that time. The cold Jew-hatred of his adversary is played well - to a point, although her lack of preparedness to deliver the mission is indicative of the film's failure to commit. Overall, its treatment of the subject is rather squeamish and Izzard's character comes across as somewhat inept. However, his suit and trilby looked great.
