I’m on episode two, because it stars Joanna Lumley, but I’m really struggling to like Michelle Keegan. Her character is too hard faced and self gratified. I think she lacks depth as an actress. I’m hoping this show will improve but I’m also struggling with its typical Netflix soundtrack, for some reason they like to use ‘out of a can’ dramatic music to emphasise the dramatic parts of the story. I wonder if it’s because they feel the need to patronise the viewers who they think can’t recognise the dramatic parts without being spoon fed a musical cue OR they don’t feel the acting alone is good enough to convey drama without it being supported by melodramatic music. I rarely watch Netflix because of that reason but I’m trying to watch this show because I rate Joanna Lumley so highly.
