I was shocked by how much I loved this movie. Every single performance is a gem. The choreography, direction, adaptation, camera work, editing, singing voices, movement, design elements are all amazing. This for me is the best film of the year. I am not a big Spielberg film and doubted he could pull off a musical - he certainly can! MVP for me is Mike Faist as Riff, but I love all 6 of the major performances - surprised by how good Ansel Elgort is and how beautiful his singing voice is. Rita Moreno sings her so song so beautifully. Rachel Zegler is so authentic and lovely. Ariana DeBose shows such a range of emotions. Once I got past the weirdness of delinquents dancing in the streets I let myself get swept away in the superb film-making! A+!!!!
