I was in the united states navy when this came out and saw it first at that time. I probably went back to see it several more times. As far as the movie was about bravery while facing so big a enemy, it was a great movie. I am glad the Witt's were't in it for long because just the attitudes of the soldiers was nice to see. I know it wasn't exactly history in truth but it made for an outstanding movie. Sort of like when the american indians were fighting and the calvary showed up just in time. Now these days they have to according to history because you don't want to sound racist and that is why I seldom go to the movies anymore. Everyone is afraid they will hurt someone else's feelings or religion. Hell, it is just a movie so get over your prejudicies. It's like we don't celebrate christmas in the media due to hurting the muslems religion. We say happy holidays instead of Have A Very Merry Christmas.
