Worst movie I've seen in a long time.

My friend and I walked out of this movie an hour into it. The best thing about the movie is the cinematography; the scenery is gorgeously shot. Everything else insults the talent of these actors and actresses. For the most part, it is a vanity piece for Jane Fonda. Good for her: she's 85 years old, and she has the body of a twenty-year-old and shows it off quite often in the movie, especially in her form-fitting white (!!??) wedding dress. Her character is engaged to a younger man by 15 years (played by Don Johnson) who apparently doesn't mind that she looks a little like the Joker after the plastic surgery that she has had done. The real downfall of the film is the sophomoric humor and weak plot. And it's time for Diane Keaton to get past her Annie Hall look. Don't waste your time or money.

This might have played well on screen 80 years ago, but I'd like to think audiences are smarter now and have higher expectations. There were too many everyday "this would never happen in real life" moments that distracted from an otherwise harmless movie with a predictable plot that just happened to star two of Hollywood's biggest stars ever. For example: Totally improbable graduate school ceremony scene--check. Have none of the writers or people on the set even been to a graduation? Law school graduate that refers to having "just graduated from college"--never worded that way. Did the writers not know that law is not a 4-year college degree? Roommate Wren is a fellow graduate. Of what? That critique could take another whole paragraph. And this was just in the first several minutes. Such a simple movie, but didn't get even the simplest things right. Wait for it to come out on Netflix.
