I Saw this Movie today with My elderly ( 069 Year old Mother and 068 year
old father) Parents and it was good. but also some parts were very
intense. it shows that sometimes those with the strongest opinions get
crucified in a sense ( Politically or otherwise) and Oppenheimer was a
man with strong opinions about things ( Certain things that is) and the
best analogy I can give from my own life is this : Some years after high
school ( I was probably 019 or 020 years old or maybe I was still 018 -Can't
really remember because now it seems like centuries ago considering I am
currently 038 years old - Lol) My mom took me to my very 01st autism
conference at USD ( University of San Diego which in sixth grade was
my dream school - might still attend there someday to earn a ph.d in
disability policy and where my brother was previously a football coach
before moving to Arizona with my sister-in-law and one year old nephew
Indiana Douglas James Christian whom we all call Indy and taking a Job
at Arizona State University - "Go SunDevils") so anyways, as my mom
thought she was taking me to the land of acceptance ( BOY WERE WE
BOTH IN FOR THE SHOCK OF OUR LIVES) The Peoples there ( Who pre
DSM 05 - That Stands for the Diagnostic and statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders would have been previously Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome)
Called themselves Quote on Quote "AUTISTIC" and they felt very proud of
this . The Problem however became that they left no room for other
Perspectives ( i.e. sides of the Ketchup Bottle) /( also they said that any one who disagreed with them on this premise which by the way was the genesis of Identity First Language that those people were worse off than Adolf Hitler) and towards the very
end of the conference as the Microphone came to each of us ( and as
it came my way and my mom - very nervous about what I might say or how
I might react to the situation) However I very respectfully stood up and gave my piece about why I had come to prefer people 01st Language
( i.e. why I wanted to be called a person with autism and not an "Autistic" Person) - Well, after that a Lady in the audience very rudely Jumped down my throat on the whole thing saying that I need to read some article by so and so and how a person who is blind wants to be called a blind person and not a person with blindness and so on and so fourth - Luckily in the midst of all of this we had to evacuate because the fire alarm went off
( THANK YOU GRANNY FROM HEAVEN ABOVE) And we never went back again - and like I always tell people - My sadness that day wasn't for myself
but for my mom as tears of sorrow slide down her checks after she thought she was taking me to a place of total acceptance . another example I have is when the National autism society had their conference here in San Diego and we were in a breakout session and a woman ( Who was the presenter stands up and announces ) " I MAYBE ON THE SPECTRUM, ( Meaning the spectrum of the Umbrella of ASD) BUT, AT LEAST I HAVE INTELLECT". anyways, my point is that Oppenheimer teaches us all a value lesson of "Keep our friends close and our enemies closer". and FYI if you all want good storytelling , great movie casting, beautiful Interior and exterior shots, great directing, great movie lines ,ect.
doesn't get any better than Oppenheimer. even the actor that played Albert Einstein totally looked like him.
