A splendid time capsule of the 70s starring the late one-time NRA president, Mr. Charlton Heston. Praise Moses. 🙏
Lovely understated, often ironically happy music score gives a bittersweet patina to this study of one of the last truly human beings on earth in the wake of a devastating man-created plague. "There was a vaccine. An experimental batch."
Speedy Bob Neville makes the best of the vestiges of civilization, foraging for groceries and swapping out his choice of vehicles and exercising during the day. At night he must hole up, barricaded against a mob of mutant plague survivors and armed with a machine gun.
In time he finds other survivors not yet infected with the plague and goes on a quest to create a vaccine from his own antibodies, but it's a race against time as the deranged cult of cancel culture mutants endeavor to stamp him out of existence. "Build coffins. It's all you'll need."
