Frances has no character or personality whatsoever. This is not the case in the book. While none of the characters are at all likeable in either the book or the series, Frances in the miniseries has absolutely nothing to offer which makes it very unbelievable that Nick should be drawn to her in any way. No idea what casting or the director were thinking. Especially because they chose to leave out so many important elements of the book that draw attention to the power imbalance between Frances and Nick.
