While the love arc is fun to read, particularly in the second book, I felt the plot was all over the place. Normally in mystery novels, there’s a lot of foretelling hidden in plan sight. But between a curse no one knows what it is, a prophecy that doesn’t make sense, and side characters introduced but have no actual value, it’s very confusing. Felt like things were made up as the author went on.
And be warned. This series is considered YA, but the second and third book definitely has some spice scenes that may not be appropriate for true YA readers.
