I can imagine how some people might think using a black girl as Ariel was wrong because the original animation was white girl with red hair. But the achievement of the movie was that love transcends skin color and the success of the Little Mermaid movie was the storyline, not the character. It was thoroughly enjoyable and well made. Now if King Triton was an Asian dude the movie would have been even more impactful.
