This movie missed the mark and a great opportunity to address the divide with religion / faith and merging culture. Instead it perpetuates many of the same stereotypes and misconceptions. The writing significantly underestimated the position of American Jews and African American Muslims; whether it be the Eastern teaching of Islam or Nation of Islam believers. Jonah Hill character who had a connection and appreciation of African American community / culture was flawed as a weak lying uncertain man who fumbled around Afrocentric concepts without any foundation. I’m confused as to whether he truly knew African American culture or was a fraud pretending to be someone he was not. I wish I could get my time back.
