There is nothing worse than a show that tees you up with an intriguing first episode with the incredible Toni collette at the healm, only for it to descend into absolute nonsense lead by a lead character supposedly in her 30s who despite the very obvious warning signs goes running around like a petulant teenager with mommy issues. Got to mid episode 4 where it just got so stupid and annoying I packed it in. What a waste of talent.

I stuck with it somehow. But it's really not good. Maybe It's a good idea for a movie in the wrong hands. Maybe I can't blame the actors as the whole set up is so corny you couldn't do anything with the dialogue and characters. Maybe Chris Pratt - who I really like- was smelling a fart in the opening scene when he is falling through time and that's why he looks so idiotic. And the clichés! Child has bad relationship with father. Check. Future child has bad relationship with father. Check. Future child knows father has spent his time battling aliens but still has father issues. Check. Father 1 comes good in the end. Check. Father 2 comes good in the end. Check. Its worse than armageddon for corny lines. It says a lot that similiarities to starship troopers from the 90s can be drawn, but starship troopers was 10 times better. And even looked as good. Developed much better and the characters were way better. If you haven't seen it check it out. I Really was looking forward to this. But you just can't ignore the wooden acting and unbelievably corny relationships. If this bunch are ultimately the ones who are left to save the planet well enjoy yourselves now lads as we are all doomed!

Sweet jesus what a catastrophic mish mash of nonsense. It's like the writer had seen 70s and 80s horror movies and stuck them altogether as a school project trying to pass them off as original work. Amityville. The shining. Poltergeist. Throw in a bit of character development that goes nowhere and voila! 2hours of your life that you will never get back. Maybe a limited series show might have been better. But this just fails all over the shop.

Love the originals. And love this too. My wife and I both laughed out loud on several occasions. Some of the jokes are very crude and not for those with of an over sensitive nature. All the lead characters were entertaining including the Children. Applegate is the real headliner. Its predictable, crass and very funny. If you want twists and turns go watch the usual suspects. If you want 2hrs of escapism this is for you.
