I went into this movie knowing that the crowds at CANNES jeered & booed it.
Social warrior , humanitarian , activist SEAN PENN didn't stray from his personal passions.
That being said , yes , it was a touring advertisement for AFRICAN atrocities , war , killings , etc. Add refugee camps , food & medicines shortages, etc. AND LET'S NOT FORGET THE CONSTANT USE OF SMALL , YOUNG AFRICAN CHILDREN IN CONSTANT PERIL OR MURDERED .
But I still found the lead characters story compelling , although it felt , totally out of place . Like putting two separate movies together . BUT THE CRAZY LOVE STORY HELD YOU TO WITNESS THE FINAL RESULT OF THEIR EMOTIONAL BATTLE .
