A great movie all about who is right and who is not!!! There is no one in the movie we hate, therefore it leaves the judgment to the viewer. That is the right time to have an open end.

I guess the movie is all about the "Truth" and what it "costs" to find out about the truth! And which would be worse: To live as a monster, or to die as a good man? The "good man" is you, your abilities, and who you think you are. Whereas, "the monster" is the one others tell you to be! What is the truth: What you see in yourself or what others tell you to be?
