This masterpiece starts off slow but stick with it. You’ll be so glad you did. In a movie world filled with glitz and glamour or painfully predictable plot lines, this script had an air of authenticity. Reminiscent of the Glass Castle (true memoir/movie about successful adult children of homeless parents) but with less violent scenes, this story centers on an abused wife and children trying to hide from their abuser by escaping to NYC. Unbeknownst to them in their early days of desperation (forced to steal to eat/sleep in their vehicle, etc), they will truly stumble upon “kindness among strangers” —nearly all of whom are of course, facing their own personal crisis. You might mistake this Prime original for a documentary or at least temporarily forget you don’t know these convincing actors. They are that good!
