This is a an excellent, eye-opening view into the daily operations of the CDC and related agencies that are dealing with emergent disease all the time. While it's a few years old now, it's still a great read. I read it back in 2000, and just learning from that gave me real perspective on the diseases and pandemic that has emerged since. And, of course, there will be more to come.
