While watching the end of Season 8, I was wondering when they would announce the wrap up. Well, not because I wanted them to but like they say all good things must come to an end. I have been watching the show Endeavour for the last 6 years and let me just say the last episode (Season 9 is the final season)left me a little moist in the eyes. Each season has around 3 long(film length) episodes of murder mysteries with Shaun Evans playing the classy and brilliant Morse and Roger Allam playing the senior mentor cop. Three things I adore about the show- the dialogues, names of the main characters - Morse, Thursday, Bright, Strange...very quirky indeed. The third being how almost stoic and restrained every character is especially when it comes to showing emotions.Maybe it has to do with the times the show is set in but this third point is also a point of frustration with both the Morse character and others vis-a-vis Morse. Along with the burden of solving murders, Morse must also navigate the challenges in his non-existent personal life. It's almost as if he is destined to not find happiness in romance. Unfortunately it does not help that he is the really nice guy who puts others needs first. One thing that has always confounded me is how is it only Morse is left hanging around after the body is found to discover some piece of evidence. Its as if the other detectives can't wait to get out of there so that Morse can get to finding that crucial link! Any how if you are looking for a good murder mystery to watch, I would highly recommend this one. The fact it is shot on location in Oxford, UK is an added bonus.
