This was a very engaging personal history of a very colourful character, Sir Winston Churchill. Insights from his diary and that of his daughter lend an intimate look at the man, his family, his view and his part in the war. I am not usually into war histories, but this book had me riveted, informed and entertained, all through the ( many ) pages.

Easy to read, in this thoughtful historical novel, Danny Henkel has captured the realities of the pre-holocaust period of time in the area of Norka Russia. The writing is almost cinematic, the plot very engaging, especially towards the end of this story, as the complications of religion, racism, corruption, desperation and tragedy converge against a layer of human decency and forgiveness. I think it would make a great movie. I look forward to the next book in his series by this newly published author!
