Easy to read, in this thoughtful historical novel, Danny Henkel has captured the realities of the pre-holocaust period of time in the area of Norka Russia.
The writing is almost cinematic, the plot very engaging, especially towards the end of this story, as the complications of religion, racism, corruption, desperation and tragedy converge against a layer of human decency and forgiveness. I think it would make a great movie. I look forward to the next book in his series by this newly published author!
