I thought it started out well with well evoked Southern states atomsphere. However, it quickly descended into a bodice ripping yarn with contrived unreal plot.

Anne Jones is brilliant. But why the tangenital stories about men being fed to pigs. Is there going to be a conclusion to that story line and how does it connect to Anne Lister. The mining stories are equally inconclusive. So much is left hanging which I suppose means there must be more series to come.
