After the first episode, I can already tell this is going to be a Disney repeat of the style of character seen in Rey. Strong female lead gains powers and is immediately good at everything. I’m fine with a strong female character as long as that character has room to show development and as long as it doesn’t feel forced. Great example is Cara Dune in Mandalorian. Very well done strong female, but they didn’t make the show completely about that. They worked her into the story perfectly and it just felt like she fit and handled her own. Strong female characters are good when they’re story driven and show the same kind of development and growth as any other character, but when it’s just immediately “I’m better than any man at everything I do” and that’s the whole focal point, the show falls flat for me immediately.
