This is the most ridiculous documentary I have ever seen! I had to watch it for school. According to The Secret’s logic, people are poor because they didn’t think hard enough about wanting money. People get murdered because they worried about getting murdered.
The documentary says that all it takes is to think about something and believe that it will happen, and then it will, whether it’s something you want or something you don’t want. Now you don’t have to watch it— that’s all it’s saying. I see a little bit of truth in that, because if you think about good things, you’ll be in a better mood, and will be more likely to have a better day. But these “philosophers” claim that it’s literally magic. If you want a red bike, and you think about how much you want a red bike, then a red bike will show up at your door (an example from the documentary).
Oh, and if you don’t want your bike to get stolen, you can’t use a bike lock, because then you’re thinking about your bike being stolen and somebody will steal it. You have to leave your bike out with no lock or anything. But you can’t think about it or else it will get stolen. That’s an example that documentary gives.
And a final example for good measure: it shows a woman who is having a bad day because she isn’t thinking about having a good day. She tries to brush her teeth, but the toothpaste won’t come out, so she squeezes harder, and then the toothpaste spurts out all over the place. Then it restarts and shows the woman having a good day, doing the things you’re supposed to do. This time, when the toothpaste doesn’t come out when she squeezes it at first, she decides to just.. not use toothpaste.
So this film definitely does more harm than good. Please use toothpaste, and don’t blame victims for things because they didn’t think about how much they DIDN’T want those things to happen. People aren’t rich because they thought about it hard enough, most of them are probably rich because their parents were rich. And if you want good things, you need to put in the work, contrary to what this documentary says. You can’t just sit back and hope a billion dollars will fall into your hands. Set goals and work towards them.
The only thing the documentary is good for is to make fun of its stupidity. If you watch this, please use common sense and don’t believe everything they say.
