As a big fan of the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series," I would say this game does the franchise justice. This game introduces quite a number of characters in the franchise, from parts 1 through 8 (well 8 being on the lighter side of rep). All star battle R is slightly different from the PS3 port from a few years back (the game runs at 60fps, which is pretty good). They took out the story mode from the vanilla version of the game (don't know why honestly, I though it was pretty good, in fact adding eyes of heaven content would have been amazing). Super moves are also amazing to look at, it stays true to the cannon of the franchise. You never get tired of stopping time honestly. It's alot of fun. The controls are not as convoluted to pick up and play (I think fighting games in general are becoming very simplistic now and days for newer players). A good example would be "street fighter 6." They recently added additional DLC to All star Battle R, but i would be very suprised to see DIO (over heaven) as a playable character & a new stage (I hope they do). Instead of a traditional story, they simply added chores..beat this character unlock a few costumes..I mean colors..to be exact. It's not terrible i suppose. They did keep arcade mode, and survival mode, which is cool. However, The main issue that holds this game back gameplay wise is the netcode. Almost every match is unbearable to play at times because of the excessive lag. The stages are pretty good, but i would have like to see alot more variety of stages, not just ports. Only stage that actually seems new is the bridge where Dio and jotaro have their final fight in the anime & manga. I do think it's great that the developers are vocal about the issues reagrding the netcode, but the game is practially on life support, as it's close to impossible to find a match on PS5 (no i idea about pc, who knows). Overall i would rate this game a solid 9/10, simply because I'm a JOJO fan. As a consumer of fighting games. 6/10 or less unfortunately. Having good netcode is ideal for a fighting game to live.
