I found this a powerful and persuasive depiction of the early years of Trump's story - who he really was, and how he then became what he became. I think anyone interested in/concerned about Trump, the election, or politics will benefit by seeing this movie. Even Trump supporters who have some remaining open mind, since in his early New York days - (and I was there) - even with all his obvious flaws, he seemed to be working hard for the City, and he comes across as driven both to promote his own fame *and* rebuild the city.
The movie fills in many blanks that I had, and although it necessarily invents dialogue and scenes, the overall picture meshes closely with what I know of his origin story.
The actors playing Roy Cohn and Donald Trump do a remarkable job. Especially the actor playing Cohn - I felt I was watching the man himself.
The movie also captures the feeling of New York City in the 1980s. Things really were turning around, and Trump *was* part of that process - which is why in the early years (1987-1991), I actually liked and admired him, even with his flaws.
Now that has changed, as the entirely dark side of his personality has taken over.
Unfortunately for us all, his supporters do not see what has happened to him along the way.
Two thumbs up
