If you are a comic fan then try and shed what you know about Venom. This is a new Universe, a new backstory, and a new Venom. Instead of a powerful, raging nemesis for Spider-Man, Venom is allowed to develop its own character sans Spider-Man’s interference. And how Venom develops will be based entirely on Brock’s character and motivations, which makes a lot of sense.
