Watching that 90’s show is giving me DOUBLE nostalgia ✨ 1. Nostalgia from watching that 70’s show when I was a kid on my big box tv. 2. Being a kid in the 90’s. Watching this show has been giving me so many happy memories! The New cast is so great and the special guest appearances from the original cast make it even better! I absolutely love how the new characters reflect the personalities of the Original cast with a twist of their own personality, they truly are a unique but familiar reincarnation of the original basement best friend group we all know and love! Leo’s appearances had me dying! I always laughed so hard at his parts when I was a kid and he is still as funny, sweet, forgetful, and confusing as ever! Red, Kitty, Donna, Erick, Kelso, Jackie, Fez, and Bob all did a fantastic job at staying true to their original characters while also showing growth and more maturity 2 decades later! I do miss Hyde’s character though, it just doesn’t feel the same without him, but he was such a free and wild spirit. I like to think that his character is rocking out in Vegas having the time of his life with his stripper wives lol. I totally feel like Gwen’s personality makes up for Hyde’s space. She is punk rock and free spirited, and she becomes Leia’s first best friend ever. Just like Hyde and Erick (Leia’s dad) became each other’s first best friends. Some of the best inside jokes from the 70’s friend group are reenacted, it’s been a minute since I watched that 70’s show so those inside joke throw backs were such a funny surprise! these 90’s kids truly are just like their parents! While I was watching the show I was trying to figure out which new cast members represent the old ones the best and I feel like Leia is just as awkward as Eric but as confident and smart as Donna. Gwen would be a mix between rebellious punk rock Hyde and feminine activist Donna. Ozzie would be a more sarcastic fez with the drama queen-ness of Jackie, although I wish that they would have made his character into another foreign exchange student that never leaves, that was one of the best ongoing jokes from the show in my opinion. Nikki is more of a mellowed out Jackie, but with the book smarts of Donna. I feel that 2 of Kelso’s different personality traits are reflected from 2 different characters. Jay (Kelso’s son) is the romantic playboy Kelso version, while Nate is the lovable dummy Kelso version (all with a twist of their own) All in all I think they did a fantastic job with staying true to the original 70’s show vibe with a nostalgic 90’s twist and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
