Being a South Indian, I must say it is the finest film I have ever seen(I have seen a lot many). Kudos to Guru Dutt and Old Hindi Cinema.

Although I didn't like the film, I think it is a good film for many, but definitely doesn't deserve to voted among world's great films. Perhaps that was a one-time mistake and they should undo it.

A grossly overrated movie. It is voted as such only because of the presence of Mohanlal

Responding to Mr Harshvardhan Rohilla,
This is probably one of the most overrated films of Indian Cinema if not the most. It didn't deserve to get high votes for great Indian films' poll. But just because of sheer need to make it rank high, it is voted as such. There is nothing special in this film. I agree it is a good film. But doesn't deserve to be hyped the way it is. There are far better films in Tamil or Telugu or Indian Cinema as a whole. The cinematography is good but still there are better films in this aspect too. Plus that can't be the only reason for its acclaim. So be sensible and don't hype films in the name of promoting regional cinema. That's why I have voted such, because my hopes have been shattered after watching the film expecting some really great piece of cinema.
