The story is so well written and I enjoy reading about characters’ lives that develop over time, but I did not clearly understand the mother’s motives for leaving her children. I was expecting a much more dramatic ending, so the book’s theme flattened out. At first I thought it could be a realistic story, but was disappointed with the final story lines. I will read the author’s other books because she is very talented with her descriptive style.
