I was looking forward to watching Nightsleeper, but soon became disappointed only after the second episode, I found the plot totally unconvincing, the script writing weak and some of the characters annoying. Alexandra Roach who plays Abby, looks like she should be playing a nursery school teacher, with her thin non authoritative voice, it’s hard to believe she’s in charge of anything. Joe Cole, who plays Joe the Police officer, has not been given the best lines, as I’ve seen better performances from him in other films. Katie Leung, plays an irritating journalist trying to get a scoop to boost her career, and quite frankly most people would have thrown her mobile down the toilet, in reality nobody would have put up with her poking around. On a positive note, James Cosmo character does a good job and to be fair I’ve not seen him play anything bad. After 4 episodes I wanted to throw the kid, played by Adam Mitchell off the train, he is constantly sneaking off getting into trouble, and no one seems to care. The series was created by Nick Leather, he should sick to making CBBC programs because the whole thing is totally nonsensical and unbelievable, with scenes of people running around not getting much achieved to individuals not knowing what to do, from the very first episode playing out with a poor search of the train by the police and staff, with someone being left in the toilet. Yes the story is fictional but I’m sure that in a real situation these characters would have acted differently. A disappointing performance, from most of the cast, David Threlfall pulled off his role as a programmer with a surprise. I give this a 1 star. Disappointing from the BBC.

This show has become an absolute joke, and a total waste of viewing time. I have to say, I love a great mystery and treasure hunt, however, the History channel needs a kick up the garden sharft! Each episode waists time going over the same discovery of non valuable bits of metal from the previous episode. Then highlighting what other surprises we will see after the break. Guess what? Yes more metal! I have also read that the two Brothers earn money from the series, which they just add to their already made millions from companies they’ve ran. As for the British metal detector guy, all he does is wave his detector around, and says, ‘Right here Mate!’ I never see him dig anything up. Easy money if you can get it. Yes they are learning the history of the island, but really? What could have been maybe 6 sessions of interesting TV, has now turned into 11 Sessions of mind numbing garbage. My only compulsion Is hoping they actually find the treasure. I’m now reduced to fast forwarding each episode. I’ve given it a generous 2 stars for the idea. Maybe I’ll dig,y garden up and sell the idea to the History channel, obviously they lake material.

What could have been the start of a good show has ended up as an poor excuse for entertainment. With weak and predictable story lines, coupled with 2nd rate acting by some of the cast, Its no wonder season 2 has been cancelled. It has become painful to watch, in particular the role of the Sheriff played by Allison Tolman, who seems to have this annoying habit of screwing her mouth up and biting her lip every time something is amiss. So far I’ve endured up to episode 9 hoping that things might improve, no chance. This show gets a Big 1 Star.
