Not great to start with and it seriously goes downhill after season 4 when the adults start to know about the dragons. Cookie-cutter characters: The fearless leader who thinks he has to do it all alone and needs to be reminded of the power of friendship, the tough exterior guy who is actually sweet inside, the tech-savvy girl (who can repeatedly hack into the security of multi-million dollars facility with just a tablet), the nerdy girl who knows all about myths, her annoying brother who thinks he's the best.
This is seriously dumb in parts like the whole "Buzzsaw in the Ice realm" arc.
Example: The dragon which he names Old Jack can cut giant trees with one swoop of his wings but can't cut the rope he's tethered with ? Or when Thunder is imprisonned in the ice jail, he can't get out but as soon as Tom lets him out he just destroys it with one blast. Why didn't he do that when he was inside ? Or when the whole gang is imprisonned by Buzzsaw and Tom just grabs the bars and slides the door up to let them out. Why didn't they do it themselves ? For five seasons the wild dragons stayed inside the realms but as soon as the adults find, out wild dragons start coming out the fissure and roam about the town in broad daylight. Also Sledkin is supposed to make sure the Rakke corp get their money's worth but when she finds out about the dragonsite crystals and the dragons she never tells the corporation about it... Why ? Way too many inconsistencies, no real effort from writers, character progression seems way too rushed.
