I just finished reading this book and I decided I had to write a review. I've been spoiled by great works by Stephen King and a verbose Russian novelist from Stalin era Soviet Union who had to conceal what he was trying to convey through metaphors and references with lots of footnotes to keep from being swallowed up by the secret police. I've come to the conclusion that this is the worst book I've ever read.
I'm perplexed as to why this is a #1 New York Times bestseller.
And the diary is not realistic there's lots of filler and terrible dialogue. My friend recommended this book to me so I had to finish it but many times I threw the book on the ground and frustration "this book is stupid!". Lazy writing and the twist at the end was a lame cop out.
