As a devoted fan of the Assassin's Creed series, I must express my deep disappointment with Assassin's Creed Mirage. Having eagerly anticipated its release and being an avid gamer who has enjoyed every installment in the franchise, I found Mirage to be a significant letdown. In my opinion, it would have been better suited as a DLC for Valhalla rather than a standalone game for which fans had waited so long.
There are several reasons for my disappointment:
- The storyline is incredibly weak, and events unfold too hastily.
- Weaponry, gear, and skill upgrades are severely lacking in terms of variety and damage potential.
- The combat mechanics are disappointingly basic and far inferior to those in Origins, Odyssey, or the exceptional Black Flag.
- The map and side missions are both underwhelming and limited in scope.
- Skill and weapon controls are frustratingly unintuitive.
- The absence of animal hunting and crafting further diminishes the gameplay experience.
- The Arabic songs, while present, are not clear; as an Arabic speaker, I struggled to comprehend the lyrics.
- There is a notable lack of diversity in clothing and customization options.
However, there were a few aspects I appreciated:
- The inclusion of stealing mechanics.
- The respectful portrayal of Islamic practices, such as prayer and the call to prayer (athan).
- The absence of explicit sexual content.
- The parkour and acrobatic elements, which remain engaging.
Regrettably, I completed the game and most of its content in an unusually brief timeframe without even realizing it. Given the extensive wait and the game's price, I can't help but feel that it simply does not justify the anticipation or expense.
