The 1997 series was BY THE BOOK. Stephen King even allowed his name to be in the title, Stephen King's The Shining. Even had a guest appearance. This version is everything that Kubrick's was NOT! I hated the 1980 movie as much as King did! The Shining is my favorite SK novel and this movie/series is amazing! Absolutely LOVE it! It's a beautiful Cadillac Inside and Out!! If you know what I am talking about, you are not a true Stephen King fan!
