Really just awful on every level. The animation tried to be both cartoony and hyperrealistic, and succeeded in neither. It was like the animators had never seen animals move before, everything was stilted and robotic.
The voice acting ranged from okay to "this is my first day acting, ever." Even Capaldi seemed to have phoned it in, but that could have been because the script dialogue was atrocious. Not sure if it was written for 8 year olds or by one.
I don't have much issue with the idea of trying to make it more kid friendly, but it seems they decided since it was going to be for children, it didn't need to be of any quality.
Netflix, if you're going to take a run at a classic, do it right, do it with effort- and for all our sakes, don't ever use that animation studio again. Really ruined a classic here.
