The triology in totality is in my top 5 fav movies. I own the movies and have lost count on the number of times I’ve seen them. I was not looking for a continuation. When I heard a 4th movie was being made, I was not excited. Having watched it, my greatest fears were realized. It started out confusing, then silly, then boring, then just bad. Out of respect for the genius of the trilogy, I suppressed my urge to walk away and finished it.
I don’t consider this a sequel, but rather a story line with a tangential link to the trilogy. More of a 2nd cousin than a sibling. Once I let go of my very high “Matrix” expectations and accepted the movie on this premise, I felt better about the 2 stars versus my initial intent of 1. On its own merits, Resurrections is still bad. Storytelling, action, acting, characters and emotion were all flat. Disappointed is the only word coming to mind and I plan to just forget it exists. Breaks my heart to say it.
