Not as good as the original (obviously) but it is better than 90% of the other Halloween movies in the series. This iteration of Halloween purposely strays from the subtle directing of Carpenter in exchange for a blunt retelling. It does everything opposite of the original. Instead of leaving things to your imagination, Zombie's Halloween put the violence on full display as well as the mythos. It's still very artful, it's just a movie created with a different brush.
