I understand that some people are unhappy with this series' departure from Tolkein's lore, but honestly I don't really mind. I'm happy to see a new take that borrows some flashpoints from the Silmarillion and run with it. The acting and production are great. The chemistry between Elrond and Thorin is probably the highlight of the season so far, and I think the actress playing Galadriel is solid as well. Some of the criticisms against the portrayal of Galadriel's character seem pretty banal and reek of incel culture.
