I see a lot of other reviews comparing him to Shakespeare, but I think they must be joking. I am honestly baffled as to how they could possibly compare this "book" to something like Shakespeare. Shakespeare was definitely a great writer, perhaps even one of the best, but even he pales in comparison with this masterfully crafted work of art. I am certain that, with time, "A Pickle for the Knowing Ones" will be gradually accepted for the transcendent perfection of the English language that it is. Where Shakespeare failed, Lord Timothy Dexter thrived. What Shakespeare had supposedly perfected, Lord Timothy Dexter somehow improved even further. His (Dexter's) chosen writing style is so intricate and deep, you will feel as if you know less about the writing on the second readthrough than on the first. He truly has a unique, extremely valuable perspective on life and philosophy, combined with a writing style I never thought possible in a book written by human hands. I would, however, read with caution, as after reading "A Pickle for the Knowing Ones," no book has ever felt as exciting or engaging, and I quickly lost all love for reading anything other than this book. I will include an excerpt from the book, where he answers a great philosophical question:
"What is a presedent answer A king bonne partey the grat has as much power as A king & ort to have it & it is a massey he has for the good of mankind."
As you can see, he seems to have finally answered the question that we have all been asking since the dawn of time: "What is a President?" Anyways, if that excerpt didn't convince you that Lord Timothy Dexter was truly, unarguably, "First in the East, First in the West, and the gratest felosofer in the Western world," you probably aren't intelligent enough to understand the rest of the text anyways. I can't recommend this book enough. 11/5 stars
