Ok. Having grown up on TOS I can say this is the closest to that. Episodic alien of the week is what’s been missing in Trek. Anson Mount is great. But the female actresses are awful, not even likable but stiff and boring. Nurse Chapel, terrible actress. Number One needs to smile once or twice. The lighting and sound are horrible. The doctor mumbles. Episode 3 is cringe-worthy kitsch. What’s missing is some charisma among the crew members. I hope like in TNG the actors loosen up in season 2. Unfortunately, Discovery is unwatchable and Picard 2 was a trainwreck so I’m camping here. All in all the pacing is good and potential for future plots is there. Waiting for that spark, for a compelling episode to get ‘er going.
