Darby Shaw

Excellent realization of the Popeye characters. But if you are only familiar with the cartoons you might not recognize them. The decision to do it as a musical is a little weird but some of the songs stay with with you long after the movie. Robin William's and Shelley Duvall are amazing choices for Popeye and Olive Oyl. No cgi, so everything is sets and stunts and is pretty incredible. The plot is very cartoonish but that and the acting style for the characters are kind of the point. Good film but you need to accept it as its own kind of animal.
