I am usually brought to tears with this wonderful programme but a recent edition where a young child was encouraged to gamble on a repaired slot machine was outrageous. I am a chaplain working with addicts of all kinds. Gambling addiction is endemic with the proliferation of TV advertising. It causes heartache, bankruptcy and even suicide among those worst affected. It would be illegal for this child to enter an amusement arcade and use this machine. Are they also suggesting he should perhaps have a beer and a cigarette whilst playing. Totally irresponsible of the BBC. At best naive. Somebody should explain.
