I am huge fan of Aamir khan movies, but this one was bit of a let down. Especially hyped up as spiritual sequel of TZP, it’s no where near TZP. The main let down was there is very little shown in perspective of the people with spectrums, lacked depth, character development, and a realistic portrayal of social stigma.
It felt like a "feel-good movie" that didn't effectively ignite emotions or encourage change and it depicted the stigma around Down's syndrome and Autism superficially, often with a comedic undertone.
I do acknowledge one positive element, Kartar Paaji, but still feel his analogies were too sentimental and comedic for the film to be truly impactful.
I wish there were more nuanced and realistic portrayal of ableism and the challenges faced by individuals with Down's syndrome and Autism, especially in an adult context.
Aamir Khan's character arc to be illogical and rushed. I felt his transition from a "hot-headed," "arrogant," and "ignorant" man to one who is comfortable with the students happens too quickly, with "no particular logic or reasoning.
Sitaare Zameen Par lacks the educational capacity of the Taare Zameen Par and that it doesn't live up to the standard of Aamir Khan's typically thought-provoking cinema
