One of the best fantasy books I have ever read despite some flaws.
As a fan of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series by George Martin, I couldn’t help but draw parallels in my mind between the black ships and “Castle Black”. Both are populated by criminals and down-and-outs. But the concept of ships built from the bones of sea dragons was intriguing.
A very persistent political correctness had me constantly reading “the women and men” which I feel disrupted the flow of the story throughout, and I don’t think I have ever seen so many mistakes and typo’s in one novel before. But this is high fantasy from a powerful imagination and I was so glad I took the time to read it.
