I just got back from a sci-fi film called The Creator. One of the best films of the year. Lots of drama. It has an amazing visual language. One of the best-looking films in years. I love love films like this where there is all world-building. Instead of narrating and expositing, the film just presents visuals and makes you figure the rest out. I am going to geek out and if I overwhelm you, I apologize. Firstly, the film was presented in 2.76:1 widescreen, which is a very old widescreen format. Most films are presented now in the 16x9. So, the film was shot digitally in 70mm equivalent format. It’s very cool. So much visual imagery. Not since Blade Runner 2049 did my jaw fall slack so many times and I think I did it more in this film. Just from ambient visuals. And the best part, they had wall-to-wall visual effects. Like every shot practically. And you don't notice. I need to know what's real and what's not. Easily on my top 100 films of all time. The ending…needed a few more minutes and a little happy coda seems tossed in, dropping it from a 10 to a 9.5 but the low-tech feel. There’s a moment where tanks the sizes of buildings rumble into a town and I swear they built those things for real. Like Elysium, District 9, Monsters, and this. This is better than Elysium, just on par if not a little under District 9.

Simply an amazing film and one the Predator franchise doesn't honestly deserve.
