Nobody ever mentions Double Jeopardy when reviewing this movie. Bridges character had just been acquitted of the murder. So what if his lawyer/lover found the typewriter that incrimated him. Double Jeopardy would attach and prevent him from being tried again for the same murder. He would have no incentive to return to her home to kill her. This ending borders on nonsense. The defense case does not hold up against the motive of Bridges to kill his wife. She controlled all the money and his career. Defense does not meet reasonable doubt burden. The doubt must be reasonable not minuscule as this movie presents. Bridges should have been found guilty. I did find the characters interesting and well developed. I especially like Peter Coyote’s role. I would have liked to seen him in more movies. But, the plot holds this down to 2 stars.

This was a horrible movie. I give it one star only because I think Mena Suvari is gorgeous. The theory that Glen Rogers could have done this is pure conjecture and folly, ignoring all the physical evidence that leads to well, you know. The only reason he got off in the criminal trial is a pure case of jury nullification. This movie serves no purpose but to give credence to those who believe that the jury nullification was justified.
