This book has a lot to recommend it. The story is fascinating and loaded with first hand information about the Agency and the Cold War and Post Soviet world. It captures the time and sketches the men who did the fighting. I highly recommend it.
That being said, it leaves no stone unthrown against the CIA. It is a relentless polemic, a brief written in opposition to the Agency, repeatedly shaking its fist at the organization’s very existence.
Still if you have any interest in post war history , the foreign policy of the United States and or espionage, this is essential reading.
