Maybe it's a culture difference - American authors liberally splash unnecessary phrases to seemingly bulk out their books, ie repetitive "get your ass/saw his ass", repeated detailing of vomit, puke, s***, and the F word, without any additional need? Found myself skipping a lot to get on with the story not lengthy and often gory detailing, especially of rape. Have to admit, halfway through this book and I've just googled the ending. As the Emperor said to Mozart "too many notes..." Sorry folks!
